Happy Birthday, Sweet Sadie Eloise!
In February we also celebrated the completion of Sadie's first year with us. This required a little family gathering - some of our family, and some of Sadie's biological family.
We went with a few natural decorations.
And added some Cadbury eggs that were already out in preparation for Easter. Mmmm.
Sadie wore a sweet new dress that a friend of mine sent her. We think lavender suits her quite well. To top it off, little girl decided to start walking about two days before her party.
Sadie and Grandma. Can you tell Grandma adores her?
Food. Yum.
We were SO happy that these folks could join us! This is Sadie's birth grandma's sister's family. That's a mouthful. Anyway, this family is especially special to us because Nana's sister, Yvonne, was earnestly praying for Sadie and the whole adoption scenario as it was unfolding. Yvonne and Raul have welcomed us warmly to the family.
Sadie got nice and overheated playing in the sandbox with Lola and cousin Analise.
It wouldn't be a birthday party without some cute cake-eating pictures:
Aw, sweet cousin Analise. She gets very excited to see Sadie.
And our dear Roman, Sadie's birthfather - Sadie is a bit wiggly in this photo, but it was so wonderful being able to celebrate her life with him and his family. (Somehow I did not get any good photos of Nana and Tata!)
Opening presents - always just as fun for the other kids as for the birthday girl.
My cousin Sarah is a doula and was able to assist with Sadie's birth. What a blessing for Sadie to spend time with her.
One of the sweetest things we did was this: everyone present at the party wrote a note to Sadie. We are putting them in a book with the photos. One day, our little girl will be able to read those well wishes and know that she is adored, that her adoption in no way interferes with the love she has from her birthfamily. She is precious to us all.
